Artist Statement

An in-born quest to interpret and express my visual and mind experiences fueled by the creative atmosphere from childhood is what I believe, made me the artist that I am today.

Walking on the beach, I have wondered about the texture of the sand and the shells and the power of the waves. I have wondered about the many sunsets and sunrises I have seen. The shape of the moon changing and still looking beautiful at all times, the never ending change in the shapes of the clouds, the textures of the trees and the leaves, the colours of the flowers, mountains so high and oceans so deep and the numerous living beings co-existing and the level of calmness that all these give me cannot be explained. The beauty of nature and its forms have a huge impact on me and that’s what inspired me to start painting. I have always been a studio painter and very rarely went out to paint but my walks in the trails of Texas have inspired me to explore Plein-air painting too.

After painting landscapes for many years using oils, I have explored other mediums like soft pastels, mosaics and color pencils and have been hooked to them too.

Studying nature leads to new discoveries about oneself and also rekindle some buried interests. My quest hence has been on the varied concepts of science, psychology and mathematics connecting them to the study of the mind and how it perceives things around us. My interpretations on these subjects are the conceptual series of works which compromises of my creative journey.

I paint in an impressionistic style evoking the desired emotions by the combination of color and strokes rather than the appearance of the subject. I transcend to a different world when I communicate with my mediums and this allows me to paint the subject’s essence. It is my purpose to create art which are both familiar and unfamiliar but intriguing either way. I want people to enjoy seeing and experiencing my art and be able to have a dialogue and connection with my paintings.
